B.A.E.S.S. Mission Statement

Bay Area Education Support Systems exists to support the efforts of the public and private schools, by supplementing their educational services through the use of proven programs where children develop inquisitive minds, build confidence in their individual gifts, and learn to contribute as responsible members of our global society.

WE BELIEVE:

  1. Education provides the foundation for one to achieve in and contribute to a global economy.
  2. Learning is Personal.
  3. An environment that imparts the value of education through positive reinforcement for students’ accomplishments creates an exciting learning environment.
  4. The total commitment of each employee is necessary to assure the best possible educational outcomes for our students and each employee is to be respected and valued accordingly.
  5. All profitable organizations have an obligation to give part of what they earn back to the community that supports them.
  6. Every customer is the most important customer we have.  It is our obligation to do everything we can to exceed every customer’s expectations.  We must deliver “STANDING OVATION” customer service.

Structure

Bay Area Education Support Services is a corporation, organized under the laws of the State of California in November, 1995.  Its owners are Jack McAboy and Bill Kramer.

Products and Services

Through an exclusive licensing agreement with Sylvan Learning Inc., B.A.E.S.S. offers services through its Sylvan Learning Centers.  The Sylvan Learning Center is a place where parents and educators send students for educational support.  Sylvan has been in the supplemental education business since 1979, enriching over 2,000,000 student’s lives.

Educational programs consist of Early Literature, Reading, Advanced Reading, Math, Study Skills, SAT/ACT Prep, Writing, STEM (Robotics, Engineering, Math Edge)

The Sylvan system features a Diagnostic/Prescriptive approach.  The student is assessed for academic strengths and weaknesses and an individualized curriculum containing clear goals and standards specific to that student is created.  The Sylvan programs are taught by Sylvan Certified teachers, on an individualized basis.  Although the teacher may have as many as three students at the teaching table, each one has his/her own unique program.  The cost of the program is paid by the parent, caregiver or, in some cases, not for profit organizations.  There are some limited scholarships available.

SylvanSync, introduced in 2011, offers the same excellent individualized instruction on a technologically advanced platform using computer tablets.  This new delivery platform allows us to deliver Sylvan instruction outside of our learning center.

B.A.E.S.S. also offers the Ace It! tutoring program through schools, churches and community sites.  The Ace It curriculum was developed by Educate Inc. in 2004.  It is a paper based program that delivers instruction in a small group setting of 6-10 students to one teacher and can be delivered in a Sylvan Center or off-site (School, Library etc.)

Territory

B.A.E.S.S. was organized for the purpose of developing Sylvan Learning Centers within the geographic territory from Hayward proceeding North up the I-80 corridor to Napa and East to Vacaville.  The territory includes most of Alameda County, parts of Contra Costa County, and all of Napa and Solano Counties.  B.A.E.S.S. currently operates centers in Piedmont, El Cerrito, Walnut Creek, Fairfield, Vacaville, Castro Valley and Napa as well as satellites in various locations around the Bay Area.
