B.A.E.S.S. takes great pride in its reputation for maintaining open and direct lines of communication between employees at all levels of the organization. We respect the intelligence of our employees and their ability to speak for themselves. It is beneficial to everyone when employees feel free to bring questions, suggestions and concerns directly to their managers. If issues persist for an employee, the issue resolution process provides a system for review by higher levels of management.
Purpose
- To provide a prompt and efficient response to employee issues.
- To encourage communications between employees and their managers.
Employee Responsibilities
- Employees should first discuss and attempt to resolve all issues with their immediate manager.
- Employees should contact the B.A.E.S.S. President when the issue is not resolved through direct communication with their managers.
- When issues persist, follow each step in the issue resolution process until satisfied or until the process ends at step 3.
Manager Responsibilities
- Meet with employees, listen to their issues and make every attempt to resolve the situation.
- Inform employees of the issue resolution process and the associated steps.
- Managers should not retaliate against any employee who chooses to use the issue resolution process.
Executive Responsibilities
- Executives are available to consult with employees and managers regarding the issue resolution process.
- Help employees and managers consider how policies, procedures, and practices relate to the issue.
- Assist with any necessary investigations relating to the issue resolution process.
Steps in the Process
Step 1 – Meet with at least two levels of management
An employee must, in good faith, make every attempt to resolve the issue with his/her immediate manager and, if that is not successful, then with his/her next level manager.
Step 2 – Put it in writing
If the issue cannot be resolved by the immediate or next level manager, put the issue in writing. It is important to describe the issue, the desired result, and your proposed solution to the issue. This step should preferably occur within twenty (20) business days of the occurrence of the problem.
Step 3 – Review by B.A.E.S.S executive(s)
After your issue is fully described in writing, the president will review all previous documentation and render a final decision to you within 20 business days (you will be notified if the issue requires more time).
