Education Assistance

Regular full-time employees with at least one full year of employment at B.A.E.S.S. are eligible for education assistance to pursue a job-related degree, license or certification.  B.A.E.S.S. has the sole discretion to determine whether a course or program qualifies as job-related.  Employees must obtain written management approval prior to enrolling in a reimbursable course or program.  B.A.E.S.S. will match up to $1,000, during any calendar year.

Purpose

  • To develop the knowledge and skills of our employees by promoting job-related education.
  • To encourage the professional development of our employees.

Eligibility:  The first day of the month following twelve full calendar months of employment.

Reimbursement terms

  • Eligible employees will be reimbursed for qualifying expenses upon successful completion of a job-related course with a grade of “B” or better.  Certification or licensing programs must be passed or achieved in order to receive reimbursement.
  • Qualifying expenses include: tuition registration fees, lab fees and certification fees only.  Books, parking, mileage, meals, supplies, late payment fees and all other fees are not covered under this policy.
  • This policy is for reimbursement only.  Payment will never be made in advance.
  • Employees must be active employees at the time of reimbursement and must sign an agreement to return all or a portion of the education assistance if they voluntarily or involuntarily leave B.A.E.S.S. within 6 months of the education assistance reimbursement.

Employee Responsibilities

  • Employees must submit their request for education assistance in writing to their manager at least 6 weeks prior to the beginning of a course and receive notification of approval.
  • Employees must provide proof of grades and proof of payment for the course to management within eight (8) weeks of receiving final grade.  Reimbursement will not be made until proof is received.
  • Employees must agree to repay all or a portion of the education assistance if they voluntarily resign or are terminated from B.A.E.S.S. within six (6) months of the education assistance reimbursement.

Manager Responsibilities

  • Review all education assistance requests with the main office prior to approval.
  • Notify the employee of approval or denial of the request.
  • Submit completed verification of payment and grade to the main office.

Executive Responsibilities

  • Ensure the consistent application of this policy.
  • Ensure that reimbursement is made on a timely basis.
