Jury Duty

B.A.E.S.S. recognizes an employee’s civic responsibility to serve on a jury if requested to do so.  Regular full-time employees will be paid their full salary for up to three (3) days.  Unpaid leave will be allowed for any time in excess of the 3 days.

Purpose

  • To allow employees to fulfill their civic responsibilities by serving on a jury when summoned.

Eligibility:  Regular Full-time employees.  The first day of the month following three full calendar months of employment.

Employee Responsibilities

  • Employees must submit a copy of their summons to their manager upon receipt.
  • Employees must contact their manager daily to inform them when they need to be in court.
  • Employees are required to report for work on days they are not on jury duty and on partial days when the court doesn’t require their presence.

Manager Responsibilities

  • Request written proof of jury duty.
  • Managers can ask employees to postpone jury duty, if possible, if there is a business necessity.
  • Ensure that eligible employees are paid their full salary when serving on jury duty.
